From the factory, most new 4WD vehicles are tuned for comfort during on road driving. Once weight is added in the form of accessories, passengers and cargo, performance and reliability suffer, especially when road conditions deteriorate.

of tuned, matched and integrated systems, each offering optimum levels of comfort, load carrying capability and control characteristics.

The complete Old Man Emu suspension range incorporates more than just 4×4 shock absorbers and springs. At ARB, we take integration to the highest level with our own selection of bushes, U bolts, centre bolts, spring liners, trim packers and suspension fitting kits.

Land Rover Defender Suspension

The Land Rover Defender 130 is a large 4×4, known for its ruggedness, no nonsense approach and high level of capability off road. During development, OME engineers focussed their efforts on increasing off road ability further as well as improving load carrying capability, ride and handling.

As well as a range of springs and shocks, providing ride height increases of 20-30mm (approximately), a variety of other components were developed to provide a comprehensive solution.

These include an upgraded steering damper to reduce the effect of wheel vibration and increase steering feel, a caster correction kit to maintain factory steering geometry specifications and trim packers to aid in fine tuning front and rear ride heights. Due to driveline angles, it is necessary to modify or replace the front driveshaft with double Cardon joints in this model.

For further wheel travel and articulation, a long travel kit has been developed which achieves a ride height increase of 30-40mm (approximately). Numerous engineering hours have been spent in developing solutions to overcome geometry issues resulting from the increased lift and travel.
